Breathe, 2025, Dimentions Variable, Inkjet print on A4 paper
This work is formed by sending automatically generated grid image data from Tokyo to a remote printer in London and printing it on A4 paper. The grid motif, RGB color system, the fundamental technologies such as the Internet and printing, and the A4 sheet as a material are all highly universal. However, once printed in a given place and directly attached to the wall, each image continues to change its shape and texture as it interacts with elements unique to its environment such as temperature, humidity, gravity, and light.
In this way, the work shows that images are not a static object but an organic existence that “participates” in the same world as the viewer, as part of an ecosystem that includes interactions among data, devices, humans, and material substances.
